WWF Western Melanesia Programme, Operations Adviser

WWF is seeking an experienced Operations Adviser to provide professional support and guidance across a range of management areas including finance, administration and human resources in WWF Western Melanesia’s Programme Office in Papua New Guinea.

In this exciting and critical role the Operations Adviser will work with senior management in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to:

  • Improve results on internal and external audits through the development of appropriate control procedures
  • Ensure full compliance with WWF network standards and policies for finance, administration and HR management, as well as donor standards for financial management of grants
  • Improve timeliness and accuracy of all financial reports
  • Improve the management capacity of the HR and Finance Managers to take full responsibility for their day-to-day duties and to think strategically

The position will establish baselines, develop targets and implement action plans, monitor, correct and report on progress.

Essential to the position are: excellent financial and budgeting skills and experience at a senior level; sound knowledge and experience in human resource management; administrative management and the ability to advise and influence non-management specialists. Knowledge of government and aid agency processes and demonstrated project implementation experience in a cross-cultural environment, ideally in a developing country, are highly desirable. Ideally candidates will be degree qualified, in accountancy, finance or business management.
